Natural Pain Relief Remedies
I have to say that though I find modern pain killers to be more harmful than not. You can’t deny how convenient they are.
I have had a lot of experience with using pain relievers as I have chronic migraines and let’s just say. Sometimes I go the easy route by taking a few pills to help me get through those days.
But the bad thing about over the counter pain relievers is that they can become addictive. And without you even realizing it your body can no longer function without them.
I had been taking pain medication daily for migraines for over a year. When I realized that it was the pain killers that were triggering more migraines.

And that isn’t the only side effect that comes with pain killers there are many more. Many side effects becoming worse depending on how strong the pain killer is.
That is just a small part of the reason why I avoid over the counter pain medication now. Because in my experience it does more harm than good in the long run.
Besides, many pain killers were originally made with natural ingredients. So why not just use what they were originally created with!

Feverfew is a pretty well-known natural pain relief remedy and for good reason.
It is most well-known for its ability to help with the severity of headaches and migraines. Helping to relieve the duration and the level of pain.
Feverfew has also shown a few signs of being able to relieve arthritis by helping to reduce inflammation. There is also a chance that it might help ease colitis.
These feverfew capsules are the ones that I have been taking for years without any complaints!
White Willow Bark
This is another pain remedy that is very widely recognized as being effective. If fact white willow bark contains salicin which is very similar to aspirin!
White willow bark is most commonly used to treat pain and inflammation as well as fever. And it has a very long history of being used by native Americans all the way to the Grecians.
It is considered to be a good alternative to anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, Aleve and aspirin.
These white willow bark capsules are the ones that I have been taking regularly. Their from a brand that I especially recommend if you want an affordable option.
White willow bark is used for almost any kind of pain that you might be suffering with. From arthritis to back pain to headaches.
You might recognize this natural pain killer as it is yet another common option. You might have even seen a bottle of arnica cream at your local drug store!
Though there might not be a lot of hard-hitting evidence that backs arnicas usefulness many swear by its pain-relieving abilities. Including me!
Arnica is mostly used to treat bruises, swelling and to help recovery after surgery. Though it is also used to treat osteoarthritis.
Arnica is a good option for topical pain such as swollen joints, wounds, achy muscles, muscle sprains and tears. It is a mild anti-inflammatory which can help to relieve pain for inflammation.
Topical treatments such as this arnica gel can be extremely effective as well as convenient to use in a pinch!
It should only be used as a topical pain reliever as too high a dose of arnica taken internally can be fatal.
Clove contains a component called eugenol. Which acts as a natural pain reliever and numbs the area where it is applied.
It has anti-inflammatory properties which help to reduce swelling, inflammation, irritation and pain.
Clove is most often used for dental pain such as a sore tooth, a cavity or wound in the mouth. It is typically used in oil form to quickly numb the area that is hurting. But many people find relief just from chewing on a clove bud.
Clove oil is often used in muscle rubs as well. As it can help to ease the pain of muscle tears, muscle sprain, swelling or soreness. Like this extra potent tiger balm for sore muscles.
Ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory pain killer. In fact, studies have shown that ginger worked just as good as ibuprofen when treating patients with osteoarthritis.
It is shown to be most effective when used on a regular basis. Which is good news for those with chronic pain!
Ginger can treat joint pain, muscle pain and conditions that are similar to arthritis. It has shown itself to be a good alternative for anti-inflammatory drugs. That with regular use it can help to lower inflammation.

This might seem like the black sheep of this list as caffeine isn’t necessarily a pain killer on its own. But I thought that it still deserved a place here. As it can be a vital ingredient in getting natural pain relief.
Caffeine is a very common ingredient in many over the counters pain killers. Especially in those formulated for migraines and headaches.
Caffeine helps to reduce inflammation and speed up the effects of pain relievers. Helping them to work faster and to keep the pain away for longer.
It can also be used to help treat muscle pain from sprains, muscle tears and pain after working out.
Natural Pain Relief Combinations
Though all of these natural pain relief remedies are great options some work just that much better when paired with another pain reliever.
And these two pain relieving combinations are examples of that!
Ginger and Turmeric
Together ginger and turmeric create a powerful anti-inflammatory pain killer. Together they help to treat pain from osteoarthritis to muscle pain. They might even be able to treat headaches and post-surgery pain.
In combination these two pain relievers are a great option to replace over the counter pain killers. Especially if the pain that you are trying to treat is inflammation based.
White Willow Bark, Feverfew and Caffeine
This is a combination that I personally used on a weekly basis. It’s just that good!
Together white willow bark, feverfew and caffeine create a killer remedy for headaches and migraines.
The white willow bark and feverfew help each other to treat the pain as a whole while the caffeine gives them a helpful boost. Allowing them to work faster and to keep the pain from coming back.
You can even find brands that carry a blend of feverfew and white willow bark like this white willow bark feverfew blend capsules.
Whether you are trying to find natural ways of treating chronic pain or just the occasional headache. These natural pain relief remedies are some of the best options out there.
They are just as effective and convenient as over the counter pain killers and are most certainly better for you. Being gentler on your body without sacrificing effectiveness!
