That isn’t true however as we all struggle to be productive in our day to day life. And I think we are all trying to find those shortcuts to achieving that goal of productivity!

Which is why I have put together just a handful of key points and tips that I think are helpful when it comes to how to be more productive!

So, if you are interested in stepping up your productivity game and having a more productive day. Then keep reading!

How to be More Productive

Productivity is a process not necessarily a goal unfortunately. It takes time and discipline and daily action on our part.

You can’t just become productive and call it good since that good habit is very easy to slip out of and into old and familiar bad habits.

But don’t let that discourage you from trying to have a productive day! With just a little practice you will find yourself becoming a more productive person and feeling all the better for it.

1.    Find Your Flow

Everyone has their own unique flow when it comes to working no matter what task you have to complete.

Maybe you like to multitask and work with some background music for ambiance. Or if you’re like me you need complete silence in order to work and just one task at a time to complete.

Everyone is going to have a different work flow so don’t feel bad if what works for someone else doesn’t work for you.

We all work better in different ways and once you find your flow of productivity you won’t worry about what anyone else is doing.

2.    Create a Routine

How to be more productive you ask. Well you need to create a routine for yourself!

Routines are the backbone of productivity and need to be implemented in at least a small way. Even if you’re not a routine kind of person having some form of a routine will be so much more helpful then you realize.

Routines create balance and structure which cut through the chaos of everyday life. When you are trying to have a productive day, a routine is the quickest way to achieve that.

Even if your routine consists purely of when you wake up in the morning and when you eat your meals. That still creates some kind of structure.

And if you’re the kind of person who loves routines then you can go a bit crazy with this tip.

3.    Set Achievable Goals

When it comes to how to be more productive setting goals is a vital step.

You can’t know what direction you are going in if you don’t have a goal to move towards, right? Otherwise you would just be staggering around in the dark not knowing what exactly your trying to get to.

Goals are another thing that creates structure as they give the what, where and how that you are looking for.

You can get really intense and thorough with your goal planning or you could do what I do since I’m highly none committal! Creating loose goals to head towards until you have a better idea of what they should look like.

4.    Stay Organized

It is so important to stay organized when you are trying to have a productive day! Believe me there have been so many times where my productive plans fell apart because of disorganization.

Not staying organized leads to messy mistakes that are time eaters. Leaving you scrambling to get organized when you need to be doing more important things!

Whether this means tracking your schedule with a planner, making lists, organizing bills or planning life events is personal to you. But we all know of the things in our life that depend on us keeping on top of them.

A few of the easiest ways to make sure that you keep on top of important things and stay organized is to create a schedule.

Take a day a month to go over important things and update whatever has changed. Or you could take an hour a week to do the same thing if that feels more manageable to you.

In order to stay as organized as possible try to invest in a simple planner like this easy to manage planner! It will help you to keep track of all of the important things that you need to remember.

5.    Maintain Focus

Now I’m preaching to the choir with this tip, but it had to be said. We have to stay focused if we want to remain productive! It just has to happen.

We all have our own individual weak points when it comes to focus. I’ve learned that after a certain point in the day I am no longer useful for brain related tasks.

As well as the fact that if I don’t eat a good breakfast my mind will be continually wondering to that leftover doughnut in the fridge!

We all know our own focus breakers, so you just have to try your best to minimize their effects.

Whether that means locking yourself away for a few hours of distraction free work. Or taking periodical walks around your house or neighborhood to avoid going stir crazy!

6.    Keep Track of Your Time

This is another productivity tip that is very important in creating your routine for optimal productivity.

You don’t have to go cray with this and keep track of every minute of every day but a little time tracking never hurt anyone.

Try to take a minute or two to reflect on how your time is rationed out. Is it balanced or is the scale tipping too far to one side?

Could you move a few hours of tv time every week into a more productive area of your life? Or do you need to do the opposite and make more time for rest and relaxation.

If you are painfully honest with yourself, you will end up finding areas of your life that could be much better distributed. And time that would be much more useful if placed elsewhere.

Again, this is where keeping a handy dandy planner is very useful!
