1. Catch Up on Rest
One important part of having a natural body detox is to take care of your body by resting up and recovering from a long holiday season.
Don’t get me wrong I love the holidays more than any one person should but even I can admit that they can be tiring.
Not only have you been working harder following up to the holidays in order to be able to enjoy yourself away from work. But you have been celebrating, cooking, and socializing up a storm during that busy season.
So, it’s important in your detox to take a step back and to try to get back all of the rest that you might have missed out on.
Sleep in, take a day off, indulge in a nap whatever it is that helps you to feel rested do it!
The sooner you catch up on rest and refuel yourself the faster you will begin to feel better and get back to your old self.
2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
A large part of your detox diet plan should include lots of liquids and no I don’t mean coffee!
You need to drink plenty of water to help your body to flush out all of that extra fatty and sugary food that you might have enjoyed throughout the holidays.
This is a great way of wiping the slate clean and starting fresh.
It is a huge part of your natural body detox and you should aim to drink even more water than you normally would.
You could also get creative and drink herbal tea, lemon water and green tea. Just try to limit caffeine as that can have the opposite effect and end up dehydrating you even more.
You can read this article on Tips to Help You Drink More Water for more tips and ideas on staying hydrated!
3. Eat Clean
Though I don’t often talk about weight management or natural weight loss I do think that it is important to maintain our health.
Because weight isn’t just about what you look like it is about how you feel and if putting on ten pounds over the holidays holds you back then it needs to go! Because you deserve to live a happy and healthy life.
And the best way to do that is to start eating a clean diet with some of the best detox food out there.
This Oh She Glows Cookbook would be a great place to get healthy and clean recipes.
Part of what I love so much about eating a plant-based diet is how naturally clean it is without any extra effort involved. It is naturally full of veggies and fruits and is usually low calorie and low fat without much extra tweaking.
But if you don’t follow a plant-based diet you can still follow a clean diet to fit into your detox diet plan!
Simply try to limit your dairy and meat consumption unless that meat is a very lean kind. Try to avoid butter or highly processed oil to instead cook with something like olive oil.
Limit your consumption of grains to healthier ones such as brown rice and quinoa with veggies being your main food group.
You could look up the best detox food and incorporate more of those into your meals. Such as garlic, lemons, ginger, grapefruit, greens, tomatoes, and sweet potatoes.
Just make sure that even on a detox diet plan that you are eating enough each day to feel good and satisfied.
4. Get Back into Exercising
It is normal and pretty much an expected thing that you will end up not exercising over the holidays. Or at least your routine will have been thrown off.
It is just one of those things that happens so don’t beat yourself up over it because it happens to almost all of us.
The best thing to do if that happens is to simply get back into exercising during your natural body detox. Just jump right in and start to warm yourself up to the habit.
One of the easiest ways to get back into exercising is to start working out at home or to go for a walk or jog. These are much easier option then to jump right into the gym!
And are really just as effective if not more so since you can work out at home anytime of the day every day.
Start off simple and work your way back to where you left off as chances are that you might not be quite there still. But within a few days you can probably jump right back into your normal fitness routine!
5. Kick Start Your Digestion
Another way to start your after holiday detox is to kick start your tired and sluggish digestion.
After all of those holiday treats, drinks, and large meals, your digestion is bound to feel a bit slow.
All of that rich food and generally large portions of food will leave you feeling sluggish and as if you are walking;king through quicksand.
You might have even started to have some stomach problems such as a change in bowel habits, bloating, or upset stomach. These are all signs that your digestion needs a little boost to get it going again.
One of the best ways to get your digestion all revved up is to take probiotics. These are good bacteria that help your digestion to do its job so well.
You could also try to incorporate other natural sources of good gut bacteria into your diet. Such as yogurt and fermented foods. These are great options to help your digestion to get over its holiday slump.
6. Take a Detox Bath
One way of having a natural body detox that you might not have heard of is the detox bath.
This is a great way of detoxing after the holidays in a relaxing and gentle way and really feels more like a treat then a detox!
There are several different types of detox baths that you can enjoy and many with ingredients that you probably already have.
The purpose of a detox bath is to help you sweat out toxins from everything that you probably consumed throughout the holidays.
A detox bath though still enjoyable will be a little more intense than your average bath so be prepared to get all kinds of hot and sweaty!
And make sure to stay hydrated throughout your bath as you will be sweating out a lot of moisture.

What is a Detox Plan?
If you are new to the whole detox plan and after holiday detox, you might be wondering what it all means exactly.
A detox plan really means whatever you want it to mean. You can have an after Christmas detox, after birthday detox, or just a mid year detox plan.
There aren’t any rules except that a detox is supposed to leave you feeling better than when you started.
A detox is usually centered around your particular health goals. Those could be to lose weight, get more energy, give your digestion a boost, or get back into fitness. Or it could be all of the above!
